The name
"Awana" is an acronym meaning Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.
It is taken from the Bible:
- "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that
needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of
Truth." II Timothy 2:15
The goal of Awana Clubs of Grace Bible Church is to reach boys
and girls for Christ and train them to serve Him.
Awana is a well structured, well prepared program. The
materials are very well written and are designed to stimulate involvement and develop an
eagerness for learning. Well-qualified staff members provide guidance and are
dedicated to Christian ideals. Awana meetings provide consistent positive teaching
every week - training that stresses strong moral and spiritual values. Clubbers
learn about the reality of God, the truth of the Bible, and respect for our nation's
freedoms.
Awana is fun! Young people discover the importance of being
team members, sharing thoughts and possessions, becoming more responsive to authority, and
learning discipline.
Awana Clubs are loaded with exciting
activities. Three segments provide start-to-finish adventure:
Game Time:
Every Awana meeting includes a
high-energy Game Time featuring individual and team competition. Dozens of
organized games get everyone's participation, unleashing natural energy and
enthusiasm.
Handbook Time:
Using achievement-oriented curriculum materials, Awana emphasizes
memorization and understanding of key Bible verses. With a trained leader
alongside to encourage and guide, clubbers develop a Bible-based view of how
to know and serve God. Clubbers are rewarded for their achievements as they
progress through the handbooks.
Council Time:
The club gathers for a Bible message and singing. One highlight of Council
Time is the presentation of awards for individual handbook progress and team
competition.
